Desktopple 1.1
As promised, I uploaded a new version of Desktopple today. In this version:
* HotKey support
* Hide your Desktop with your Desktop picture
* Preference to add Desktopple to your Login Items
That should take care of most of the feature requests. Now, back to work on Cookie Assassin!

I am not sure whether you intended it this way or not, but when it hides the desktop it is hidden only as long as you do not use expose or any other active screen corners. As soon as you do, your desktop would be visible once more. Again i am not certain if you regard the visible desktop under expose as an advantage. but if you do and if it’s possible maybe you could add this as a configurable option. Looking forward to 1.2. Thanks.

Well, I count that as a “feature not a bug.”
It’s a feature because if it didn’t move with Exposé, you wouldn’t be able to access any files on the Desktop, even when you want to (without using the Finder). The way things stand now, simply call Exposé and you can grab files, etc. whenever you need them. But there’s more to the story.
To be honest, Apple hasn’t made the Exposé API public, so it’s impossible, with approved techniques, to keep the Desktopple window from moving when Exposé is activated. That said, there are some undocumented methods I’m experimenting with. The problem with these is that they’re not guaranteed to work if Apple ever updates things and may cause problems in the future. The need for “No Exposé” is pretty strong, though, and I’m seriously considering it.
I am currently working on Desktopple 1.2, and you’ll see quite a few changes. With any luck, this will be one of them.
