Dock Dodger 0.1
A couple of weeks back, Rick Yaeger, madman and head mercenary at MacMerc, asked me how to remove the Dock icon of an application. He wanted to be able to run the app, but he didn’t want it to take up space in the Dock.
I told him how to do it, but it involved a number of steps, XML editing, and a lot of things most people simply don’t want to do. Which meant the “Developer Light” went on in my head, and Dock Dodger was born.
Simply put, Dock Dodger removes the Dock icon from any application with a simple drag and drop process. Re-launch the app, and it will run without taking up any room in the Dock.

Just curious if this does anything different behind the scenes than Dockless?

This is very useful to me.Please keep working on it and add a few features so I can easily address the app and menu bar functions.I will pay for copy should on be released. Thanks for sharing such a great idea with us-

The app is great, but I really wonder why the Menubar (always?) disappears (even if you “undock” Dock Dodger itself).

I tried Dodging my favorite app launcher, Namely, but the dock icon remains… hope it works on it soon…
Thanks!

The app works for me, but how do I get the removed app back on the Dock? Thanks

Switching things back is just as easy! Simply drag the app back into Dock Dodger and it will return everything to normal (you have to re-launch the app-in-question, though).

in leopard you can’t get quicksilver to not show up in the dock. So i tried this but it did not work.

Seems like Dock Dodger under Leopard no longer recognizes Applescript applications. Dang.

PS to alexis - But Quicksilver does not show up in the dock for me. I did a clean install from Tiger and imported my Tiger settings using Migration Assistant, and it just worked.
